"The Colours Behind the World", a short phantasmagoria of 'other sight' in the time of the shieks, is featured in Morpheus Tales VIII, available to preview of buy in print HERE.

Thanks to Morpheus Tales for showcasing this story, a personal favourte of mine!

Work goes on for the latest novel, set in the broken future of 'Half Discovered Wings'. With several stories intended for release before it, you won't see 'Alamaine' on the novels page for some time. Rest assured that it's something a little special!

1st March 2010

Well, things certainly have been busy.  I've been trying to boost the modest sales of 'Half Discovered Wings' with a few extra marketting techniques, most noticably a trailer animated in Flash that was the surprised promised some time ago!  If you wanted to see what your favourite character looked like, or haven't had a chance to buy the book and wanted a quick glimpse to make up your mind, this is already available at www.newgrounds.com (search for "Half Discovered Wings" or "DavidBrookesUK"), and provided there's a video converter out there that won't paste a vast watermark over my trailer, on YouTube shortly as well.  The bad news is that the conversion screws up the syncronisation between sound and video, pretty much ruining the trailer - a reason why I never gave myself the green light for parts two to four of the animated "The Melancholy Life of Tim Burton", also on Newgrounds.  Maybe they will materialise as stories - or another LittleBigPlanet adaptation?

I'm already being asked for news on my next book.  Next in the sequence is "Faith in Chrome", set in the clean future between now and the post-war landscapes of 'Half Discovered Wings'.  Although Libros International snapped up "Faith in Chrome" last year, they have suspended new fiction for the forseeable future and are concentrating on other areas, breaking the agreement before it was signed.

The good news is that the spectacular pirate anthology "Skulls and Crossbones" is now available from Bedazzled ink and at Amazon--

This features my story "Resolution", set in the choppy waters of the Ivory Coast.  The anthology is a fantastic read featuring some genuinely brilliant pieces of short fiction.  Get it while you can!
