LONG INTENDED MEETING
Oedipus Pray, once devout,
Speaks the word of Eusebeia
And argues with the abyss.
Debates unceasing break the night
And wake the restless spirits.
This masked man, once slave to Piety,
Stumbles through the alleyways,
Where the rats make his home,
And the worms his meals.
In the ceaseless rain and thunder,
Amidst the clouds’ toil,
He stops and undresses his face to the rodents,
And lets them figure.
Long-grown meadows; measured weather
Brings the girl’s eyes to the sky,
Where the stars cry caveat,
Then make good their words.
An arrow of fire puts light to her face,
And hits its mark.
Shadows of oily darkness bring
The hidden promises to light.
Fallen angels snared in webs
Make short work of the rats and worms,
Carve the walls to rubble
And beckon the void, in anger.
Scorched paths meet by cold starlight,
And under the downpour time rolls back
As the masked man and the girl of stars
Find each other once again and shock the heavens,
Crowned in bleached moonlight,
And draw their weapons.
